It operates Air Traffic Control and regulates everything from aircraft manufacturing to pilot training to airport operations in the United States.įederal Aviation Regulations (FAR) – The rules and regulations that govern aviation, as established by the FAA.įirewall – A fireproof barrier between the engine and the fuselage and other sections of an aircraft.įlaps – Movable surfaces, via hinges, on an airplane’s wings that alter their airfoil properties and enable the pilot to control drag and lift at low speeds.įlight Plan – A detailed plan that pilots must file with flight service stations. These schools are very structured and help students train to meet strict federal requirements.įederal Aviation Administration (FAA) – The division of the Department of Transportation concerned with aviation. Part 141 schools are approved and evaluated by the FAA. This term refers to the Federal Aviation Regulation sections that the school operates under. Particularly strong as an airplane ascends.ĭownwind Leg – A flight course parallel to the runway but heading in the opposite direction.ĭrag – Air that moves opposite but parallel to an aircraft’s course.įAA Part 141 - There are several types of schools for pilots, two common schools are known as Part 141 and Part 61 schools. The FAA also refers to “Check Rides” as the Airman’s Practical Test Certification.Ĭrosswind – Any wind that blows perpendicular to an aircraft’s course, measured in knots.ĭownwash – Air that pushes downward on a wing. Each test is performed with a Designated Pilot’s Examiner (DPE). The FAA requires a certain minimum of flying hours, depending on your training facility, to qualify for this exam.Ĭertified Flight Instructor (CFI) – An FAA credential held by a commercial pilot who has passed additional tests and practical exams that allow him or her to train other pilots.Ĭheck Rides - The name for the FAA practical test needed to obtain aviation certifications and ratings. Examples of those services are flight instructing, banner towing, single-pilot small cargo flights, and aerial photography. In the field of aerodynamics, it explains how air flowing over an airfoil can generate lift by creating high air pressure below the wing to push the wing, and the aircraft, upwards and low pressure above the wing.Ĭommercial Pilot Certificate - Also known as a commercial pilot license, once certified, pilots can receive payment for their services. Pitch refers to the up-and-down movement of an aircraft, yaw refers to the side-to-side movement of an aircraft, and roll refers to the action of an aircraft around its central axis.īernoulli Principle – A principle of fluid dynamics described by the scientist Daniel Bernoulli. Requires a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight experience, among other qualifications.Īltimeter – An instrument found in a plane cockpit that uses atmospheric pressure to calculate and display the aircraft’s MSL (mean sea level) altitude.Īltitude – The height of an aircraft, measured either as AGL (above ground level) or above MSL (mean sea level).Īxes of Flight – There are three axes of flight. Induced drag is a by-product of the lift associated with the outside wing.Īeronautical Information Manual (AIM) – An official Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) publication that provides instruction regarding the proper operation of aircraft in the US National Airspace System.Īileron – Hinged control surfaces at the trailing edge of the aircraft wings that help the pilot keep the aircraft balanced and control the roll on the longitudinal axis.Īir Speed Indicator (ASI) – A cockpit instrument that calculates and displays aircraft’s speed in miles per hour and/or knots.Īirfoil – The cross-sectional shape of an airplane’s wings (with a curved surface at the top and a flat surface at the bottom, such as a wing, propeller, rudder, or even a trim tab ) which generates lift through aerodynamic force.Īirline Transport Pilot (ATP) – The pilot certificate held by captains working for major airlines, regional carriers, commuter airlines, and large freight carriers. This is caused by the higher induced drag on the outside wing, which is also producing more lift. Above Ground Level (AGL) – Height above the physical land or water surface beneath an aircraft.Īdverse Yaw – The opposite force exerted against the nose of an aircraft while turning. AKA, the airplane nose tends to yaw toward the outside of the turn. I think part of what makes this one stand out so much is the way it’s first revealed to the audience – we see a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers being eclipsed in the shadow of something huuuuuge. It’s massive, sleek, and intimidating as all hell. The return of Star Wars to the cinema with Episode VII The Force Awakens allows Lego to develop a range of sets based on Star Wars sequels. The design is pretty incredible, it takes everything cool about the original Star Destroyer and then adds steroids. The complete list of characters rumored to appear includes: Bus Stop Mother. This ‘Super Star Destroyer’ of course first shows up in “The Empire Strikes Back” (and is later destroyed in “Return of the Jedi” during the Battle of Endor – unceremoniously crashing into the second Death Star). This article contains spoilers for Andor episode 11. Super Star Destroyer – Executor Class Dreadnought (The Empire Strikes Back) First seen in 1977s A New Hope, the Millennium Falcon. (Note: The first Star Destroyer we see at the opening of Episode IV is called ‘The Devastator’) Shes one of the most recognisable vehicles in not only the Star Wars movies but sci-fi and film in general. For a full torso we need to have 6-8 layers of plaster bandagesĪ four-inch roll of plaster bandage contains 720 square inches of bandage (180 inches long x 4 inches wide). For a half torso, we need about 5 layers. For a head mold we need an average of about 5 layers. For a face mold, 4 layers is sufficient. The bigger the mold the thicker the plaster bandage shell needs to be to keep the mold from distorting during the pouring up. Too few and your mold will distort and possibly collapse into a useless mess. It is really important to have enough plaster bandages. How Many Plaster Bandages Do I Need for a Lifecasting? Always better to err on the slightly thicker side for safety. A full torso can be 400 square inches so we need between 6 and 8 rolls.Calculations show that we need about 3 rolls of plaster bandages A half torso mold is usually about 200 square inches.More on getting plaster bandages to stick. Plaster bandages don't normally stick to alginate so several strategies are used to keep them together. Putting on a hard shell of plaster bandages keeps the alginate in its original shape so you casting comes out better. As such the alginate requires a structural support so it doesn't distort when it is removed from the body. In a layup mold, the alginate is spread fairly thinly onto the surface of the skin, like in a face or torso mold. As discussed elsewhere, there are two types of lifecasts- Bucket Molds and Layup Molds. Probably no other native Hawaiian plant is found in a greater number of varieties than this one. Species Facts: The species name polymorpha, meaning "many forms," is most apropos. īloom Period: Flowering generally peaks in spring or summer, but some varieties peak in fall or winter. Pollinators: Birds, such as the Akohekohe or Crested Honeycreeper ( Palmeria dolei), and insects are the most important pollinators. polymorpha exists on young volcanic substrates in rainforest habitats on Hawai’i. Habitat: Grows just above sea level to 2600 meters, generally in areas with rainfall over 50 cm. Geographic Distribution: Endemic to and present on O’ahu, Moloka’i, Maui, Kaua’i, Lana’i, and Hawai’i. This tree is the most abundant tree in Hawai’i and provides important habitat to native birds, several of which are endangered. The wood is of fine texture and is often used for flooring, fence posts and fuel. It is the first tree to appear on new lava flows where it offers watershed protection, and it often starts as an epiphyte in fern forests. Today it is illegal to possess such flowers in a garden setting and you very rarely, if ever, see a lei made of ‘Ohai flowers.Ī slow-growing native hardwood tree. In the Hawaiian tradition, a lei is a garland used as a symbol of affection and to officially establish peace between two groups. Species Facts: Before this plant was added to the endangered species list, many Hawaiians used the flowers for making lei. Pollinators: Bees, including Yellow-Faced Bee ( Hylaeus anthracinus). Found on calcareous beaches and sand dunes, rocky ridges and slopes, deep red soil, and soil pockets on lava. Habitat: Dry shrublands or (rarely) dry forests. Current populations exist on O’ahu, Moloka’i, Maui, Kaua’i, Kaho’olawe, Hawai’i, Nihoa and Necker. Geographic Distribution: Endemic to all of the main islands of Hawai’i. By placing emphasis on the natural networks at play between plants, pollinators, and people, we can begin to ensure healthy ecosystems and food security for all. Endeavors such as the Monarch Wings Across America and Bee Friendly Farming techniques can aid in the conservation of critical habitat by prioritizing pollinators and reinforcing the importance of such species. This information is of great value to foresee consequences of pollinator losses and to identify target species for effective conservation. Recognizing the importance of vulnerable pollinator species and their habitats, as well as initiating preservation efforts before there is a need to list them as endangered or threatened, is key to maintaining our biological balance. As keystone species, pollinators have substantial impact on our global systems. Conversely, the populations of pollinators determine the stability of plants and our ecosystem health. The relationship between pollinators and their plants are intrinsically linked, the decline of pollinators make plants more vulnerable to secondary extinction. Pollinators play a critical role in our global food system at least 80% of crops we consume are pollinated by bees and other wildlife. The problem of extinction can lead to a crippling disaster for ecological resilience and economic interests. Disturbances such as habitat loss, climate change, and application of agricultural pesticides contribute greatly to diminishing populations and disrupt ecological interactions. There are numerous species that are at risk and listed as federally endangered or threatened including: 1 fly, 3 bats, 5 birds, 8 bees, and 24 butterflies and moths. § 1531 et seq.) with the intention of protecting vulnerable species and preserving the ecosystems that we all share. In 1973, the United States Congress passed the Endangered Species Act (ESA 16 U.S.C. (note: this is like emulators when you put the extrageometry to fit an old 4:3 game in an 16:9 screen) This is to prevent that always the image has to be centered on any resolution, and only by code we "cut" the portions not visible.īut if you have a normal stage on 640x480 try change their localcoord to 854x480 or if you have older ones 320x240 change the localcoord to 427x240 and see yourself, the stage only show more portions to fit without affect anything else, now is more cool your old battlefield. You first need to redone all for it to fit on a square or wide resolutionĪll the full background images need to be on a 854x480 size ,so when you have all the pictures for your stage or screenpack, put on the mcm or fighter factory and made the center point just in middle of the images, this is, the 0,0 coord must be on the high top center of the image. This is ,we put the following resolution: 854x480 this is the trick:Ĥ27x240 is a wide low resolution format who images can match on both 320x2x720 enviroment.Ĩ54x480 is a wide high resolution format who images can match on both 640x4x720 enviroment.Īnd here is the tutorial to make proper 3D stages and proper screenpacks. On your mugen engine, screenpack, stage, character, or wherever, change the resolution following the equations above mentioned.Ģ40 is double to 120 but for match we need to add pixels to the image. Mugen quit 120 pixels in the buttom to cut the image and left a nice wided rectangle, but there is a perfect resolution to avoid the problems said before.įirst we need to match the complete 640x480 image on a 1280x720 enviroment without lost anything, the solution is very simple. This simple equation make a lot of bugs in the engine gameplay. Well you got the idea, mugen cuts 240 pixels who is the double of the high resolution, to make it compatible on the high definition one.Īnd we need tho make that lost portion visible. Ok you notice that 640x480 is the double of 320x2x720 is not exactly double at 640x480.Ħ40x480 double size really is 1280x960 but as you notice, the view region is a square ( differs a little in fact), if you put a 640x480 screenpack on a 1280x720 enviroment ,mugen cuts a portion in the bottom and lefts a very bad impresion. The engine constantly tries to perfectly match or make compatible all that resources and this cause the camera glitches sooo.įirst we need to "help" it with our brains and simple mathemathics.ģ20x240 small and standard one, its like a squared rectangle (yes squared)Ħ40x480 high resolution, like the one above only 4 times the size used on screen.ġ280x720 high definition one, this is like 4 times the high resolution but in a wide format.ġ920x1080 full high definition, for now we won´t work with this standard. Imagine you have a mugen engine resolution of 1280x720, a screenpack on 640x480 and a nice 3d stage equal on 640x480. Ok the resolution in the mugen engine depend on the configurations in the cfg file, the config on the motif (screenpack) and the local coord in the stage itself. Well, after brake my brain this morning, i finaly discover a metod for all the problems but sadly it require a lot or a least efforce. time to be happy.Īny maker in the comunity knows the problem for having 4:3 3d stages in a 16:9 wide enviroment, the camera problems and the ugly feel in the game. Hello everyone ,there´s be some time since i post anything ,so i like to share a nice tutorial to make 3d stages, screenpacks and characters who work on any resolution without problem.ġ.- you need an idea for the stage, like a 3d game rip or you own renderĢ.- the usefull 3d stage calculator in this forumģ.- any version of mugen but this time we were using the 1.0 one who work on any resolutionĤ.- and last but very important. The study found that two of the three apps were inaccurate by nearly 20%. A 2017 article tested three apps among 48 participants on a treadmill with incremental speeds. These watches can synchronize steps and exercises with an app on a smart device. Smartwatches, on the other hand, are watches that track fitness data and may also provide messaging and call features. What is the difference between fitness trackers and smartwatches?įitness trackers are devices that primarily focus on tracking health and fitness data. If a pedometer is not accurate, people should contact the manufacturer for advice, replacements, or refunds. Some pedometers ask for a person’s metrics, such as their height, to estimate how many steps they take. To double-check that Wrist Detection is turned on, open the Apple Watch app on. One way to assess the accuracy of a pedometer is to count how many steps a person does and compare it to the reading on their device. This helps your Apple Watch determine if you’re moving, how much you’re moving, and then calculate calorie usage. How do I know if my pedometer is accurate? Here we answer some common questions about these products. Additionally, it is one of the more expensive options available.įrequently asked questions about step trackers However, this watch only has up to 6 hours of battery life if a person is using GPS and music. However, people must pair their watch to their smartphone to use this capability. If the watch detects an incident, it can send an alert to a person’s emergency contact. This smartwatch also has a safety and tracking feature. In addition to tracking steps, this smartwatch can track: Additionally, the watch can map activities using GPS and store and play music.Īn individual can also use this watch to view phone calls, text messages, and calendar alerts if they pair it with their smartphones. The watch can track fitness metrics for over 20 exercises, including yoga, running, and swimming. The Vívoactive also offers a variety of features that people can use during workouts. The Garmin Vívoactive 4 also includes free 5K, 10K, and half-marathon training. Average customer rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars. Additionally, people will have to note down their fitness metrics if they wish to keep track of them after seven days. However, OZO Fitness does not state whether it offers a warranty on this product. This may make it a suitable option for older adults or those who prefer using less technology. Unlike other devices in this list, this step tracker has no other features, making it simple to use and understand. This pedometer also tracks steps, tracks distance in miles and kilometers, and the calories an individual has burned during the day. Additionally, the screen automatically dims, and the device sends visual and audible target reminders. The device has a 7-day memory and automatically resets all information at midnight. Each purchase also comes with a lanyard to wear the device around their neck. This step tracker is likely to suit older adults, as it features a large digital screen with easy-to-read numbers and symbols.Ī person can clip this pedometer onto their clothes using the removable belt clip. Unique is certainly making great strides in changing people’s opinion of low-voltage lighting and your passion for doing so is obvious. Stahlman England introduced me to your product and I must say that I am impressed with the quality and performance. I have never have never had the privilege of going on a business related trip quite like the one Unique Lighting treated me to in September. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity. Thank you, and feel free to use us for a recommendation to anyone contemplating installing your products. We are especially impressed with the professionalism, knowledge and friendliness of your personnel. Your variety of products, from transformers to lighting fixtures is remarkable, and the quality of your products is unsurpassed. We cannot imagine anyone installing low voltage landscape lighting from any other company. That is remarkable in this day and age and we wanted to send this letter to thank you for making such great products and standing behind them. You stood behind your product and were true to your word. None of these were the case with Unique Lighting Systems. We have had things with “lifetime warranties” before, but after several years there was always a reason that the warranty was no longer valid: no longer in production, parts not available or company out of business. You reminded us that those light fixtures have a lifetime guaranty and that we should just return them to Unique Lighting Systems and the fixtures would be replaced at no charge. We contacted you to find out if we could get our lights repaired. Recently we had several of our Pulsar lights, which we purchased several years ago, damaged by our landscapers. It also gives the client an opportunity to make changes at a minimum cost. It makes for a much simpler job for both the project manager and the installer. We then do all of our planting and then determine the fixture locations accordingly. My men are simply trained to run wires from the transformer to strategically placed hub locations. More importantly, as a project manager, I did not have to spend a lot of my own personal time on the job site initially flagging out fixture locations that were probably going to end up being moved or displaced anyway. With the Unique “HUB” method, we have the flexibility of being able to add, subtract and move fixtures without even skipping a beat. If we wanted to add or move a fixture after the trenches had been backfilled, we would have to re-trench and home run another wire all the way back to the transformer, which in most cases was a very invasive and costly process. Using the old standard wiring method, we would literally need to know exactly where each light fixture was going to be placed before we even started trenching for the irrigation. What first interested me in the Unique Lighting Systems (Equalizer Hub) wiring method was the flexibility in design. |
